This Tuesday, Grape Killers held its first function in the old Rippe’s space on Pier 70, complete with DJ and catering by the Waterfront Seafood Grill. The event sold out, with 200 people in attendance to taste wines from a consortium of wineries that includes Baer Winery, Gorman Winery, Guardian Cellars, Mark Ryan Winery, Ross Andrew Winery, Stevens Winery, and Sparkman Cellars.Alas, plans to open a regular wine bar in the space are kaput for now. According to Christian Sparkman, general manager of the Waterfront Seafood Grill, “Due to a number of unforeseen complexities, Grape Killers Lounge will not open as planned, but rather will take the form of a special event that will be held periodically in the Seattle area.” If you were unable to attend the first event, keep an eye here and on its website, www.grapekillers.com, for announcements of future events.
