The up-and-coming restaurant row on Greenwood Avenue just got two new noodle spots. The first to open was New’s Noodle. Owner Bing Phung has remodeled the old Golden Shower of Hits record shop into a Thai-style noodle joint. Open since last Friday, the bright and airy spot is serving dishes such as pho, Thai soup, and wok rice noodles, with nothing over $10. Just up the street, at the former King Falafel Grill, is Aloha Ramen, which opened its doors on Monday. Husband-wife team Raiko and Lorenzo Rangel moved here from Hawaii a year ago when their son started attending Washington State University. Though Lorenzo has more than 30 years experience in the restaurant industry, including a spot at the five-diamond La Mer restaurant at Halekulani Hotel, the couple decided they wanted to devote their talents to bolstering Seattle’s ramen noodle scene. Aloha Ramen is starting with a soft opening now, and so their current menu could see some changes in the first couple of months. For the moment, it features miso, shio, and shoyu ramen, with everything falling under the $8 mark.
