“The Daily Drink” brings you a must-try libation from our booze columnist Zach Geballe.

Real men drink pink. That’s a saying I hold dear, and practice regularly: rose wines can be some of the most spectacular wines on the planet, and when you start talking about sparkling rose, well then you’re speaking my language. The Albert Bichot Brut Rose I had at Bastille the other day is just one example of how much quality sparkling rose there is on the market these days: not just Champagne, but Cremants from all over France (basically sparkling wine made like Champagne, but not in that specific region), rose Cavas (well, technically rosado), and even some domestic sparklers like those from Argyle and Domaine Ste. Michelle. They’re fun year round, but best enjoyed in the glorious sunshine.

Zach Geballe does a lot of drinking. When he’s not working at The Dahlia Lounge or for his business Vine Trainings, he’s studying for the Court of Master Sommeliers Exam. His weekly column here at Seattle Weekly, The Bar Code, endeavors to inspire, educate and sometimes poke fun at all things beer, wine and spirits related.
