So how much are you supposed to tip at happy hour? Back when I was a cook, and my coworkers and I would go out to friends’ restaurants and get lots of dishes comped, we’d always tip on the value of the meal including the virtual prices of the free stuff. (And of course, when you knew the waiter, it was impolite to tip less than 25-30 percent.)So if you go to happy hour, are you supposed to tip on the value of the drinks/food before the discount? At Brasa a couple weeks ago, our waiter presented us with two receipts, one showing the full price of the entrees, one showing them at half-price (which is what they cost if you order one drink). The implication was clear. But no one else has done this before, and I’m not sure if I should feel emotionally blackmailed or guilty for all of the other poor stiffs I’ve stiffed?
