Photo courtesy Issaquah PressA couple months back, I reported on the middle-of-the-night fire and subsequent closure of Issaquah’s Cascade Garden restaurant–a beloved Chinese joint right on the main drag (1580 NW Gilman Boulevard) which has been open and selling noodles to the faithful for more than 20 years.”Right now,” I wrote back in July, “[owner Andy] Liu is looking at around six to eight weeks before he gets Cascade up and running again. And when I was there today, it looked as though things were already under way since there were contractor’s trucks all over the parking lot. There’s no estimate posted on the Cascade Garden website just yet, but Liu has put up a note about the fire urging his regulars to ‘check back for updates on a re-opening date.'”Well, I’ve been doing just that–checking back semi-regularly for the past three months and even driving by a couple times. And the good news now is that finally, after something more like 12 weeks, Cascade Garden is now back in business, slinging hand-made noodles (including Liu’s special Chinese spaghetti) and turning tables just like nothing ever happened.Okay, not like nothing ever happened (the fire originally started in Cascade’s galley, so the place is operating with a new kitchen just for starters), but still. The website is currently announcing the Grand Re-opening” of Cascade Garden, and I’m looking forward to getting in and checking the new/old place out again.
