Not to spoil your morning, but I have a few more closures to report:The Top of the Hilton, the 38-year-old rooftop restaurant, is closing for dinner service after Saturday, Jan. 17. Marc Ankan, the former banquet manager for the hotel who has just been promoted, confirmed that the hotel restaurant will only be open for breakfast and lunch (or weekend brunch), and that hotel guests in search of dinner will have to go downstairs to the Lobby Lounge. The tireless MyBallard blog reports that the Crown Hill Bistro has closed, and the Station has been shuttered — though the comments in the post seem to suggest that the latter has a new owner who will reopen later in the spring. Let me know if you have details. Finally, the Silicon Alley Insider reports that Gourmet magazine may go online or perish by the end of the year. With advertising sales way down and two other food-related publications (Bon Appetit and Epicurious.com) in the Conde Nast chain, Gourmet may simply be considered the least-loved sister. Thank god the website’s so good.I have another doozy for you, but no details yet. Stay posted.
