Not to long ago, I ranted a little bit about all the announcements coming down regarding the opening of patio season in Seattle. And the way things turned out, I was kinda right. What with the 100 straight days of rain and clouds (or whatever it’s up to now), it seems as though the various “official starts to patio season” around town were a bit premature…Still, one of the most well known patios in the city is getting ready to kick off summer tonight: the patio at Salty’s on Alki Beach. Intrepid food reporter Zibby Wilder recently did the run-down on Salty’s happy hour deals, but this is something different: a party (complete with luau theme) to celebrate the (eventual) arrival of summer and the opening of one of Seattle’s most famous decks. Things heat up tonight at 5 p.m. with Salty’s exec Jeremy McLachlan manning the grills, and will run until 8 p.m. According to the official announcement, there’ll be prizes, booze, luau shirts and, of course, views. So if eating outside and on the water with about a bazillion of your closest friends is your kind of thing, tonight is your night. And I will say this. In that snap above? That does look like some kind of delicious pig.
