My friend Heather, who joined me a few months ago in driving to White Center to snarf down Mexican-style roasted corn on the corner of 15th Ave. S.W. and S.W. 98th St., just forwarded me a link to the West Seattle Blog. According to the poster, the owner of Tony’s Market (9050 35th Ave. S.W.) just set up a corn-roasting machine next to his business, and his son is manning the machine, roasting corn cobs and coating them with a similar mix to White Centers: layers of “butter,” mayonnaise, Parmesan, chile, and lemon. With sweet summer corn on the way, I’m going to be doing a lot more driving across the West Seattle bridge. That’s if I don’t break down and buy my own corn cart.
