Is there such a thing as coffee overkill? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, Patrick McNerthney and his wife Paige are trying to make a go of it with their new spot, Bustle, on the corner of McGraw Street and Fifth Avenue West. They spent over a year remodeling the former nail salon, restoring the slate flooring found under the carpet, and uncovering a decorated concrete wall under the drywall. For now, Bustle serves pastries, like sweet and savory croissants procured wholesale from a bakery in Kirkland, and vegetarian sandwiches from Baguette Box, though Patrick foresees additions to the menu (he has three culinary students on staff). They are serving Attibassi coffee, Patrick’s favorite, flown in once a week from Bologna (Tutta Bella serves it as well). After initially being turned down for a liquor license, they were able to reach an agreement with the nearby elementary school to sell beer and wine after 5 p.m. Find restaurant gossip like this plus local food events and great date ideas in our Big Bites e-newsletter, sent out every Tuesday.
