I stopped by Espresso Vivace Roasteria on E. Denny today for one last, melancholy macchiato. You have until Sunday to spend time in one of the loveliest cafes in town before it moves out to make room for a Sound Transit station, scheduled to open in 2013. Tomorrow would be a good day to pay a visit, in fact — according to the farewell letter posted by the cash register, Vivace owner David Schomer will be in house Friday from noon to 2 p.m. to make espresso art for anyone who stops by. I believe light rail is going to be a good thing for Capitol Hill, damn the five-year construction mess, but I also wish that Sound Transit, in its infinite wisdom, would wait to kick Vivace out until summer’s over and the view of Cal Anderson Park through the trees on a sunny day stops being so gorgeous. Especially since the space Vivace is supposed to move into in September currently looks like this:
