The Tempest

Can’t remember which of Shakespeare’s 38 plays The Tempest is? Here’s the abridged, HobartsNotes™ version: Sorcerer Prospero and his virginal daughter Miranda are stranded on an island. Prospero conjures a vengeful storm to run aground the ship carrying the jerks responsible. Miranda falls in love with one of the jerks because, hey, a girl gets lonely. Romance, betrayal, and drunkenness ensue. Also slavery, in the form of Caliban, one of Shakespeare’s most problematic and conflicted creations. Packed full of romance, enchantment, and politics, Kerry Skalsky’s outdoor production may require you to pack an umbrella, in case an actual tempest opens up overhead. ERIKA HOBART 3:30 p.m. Fri.-Sun. Ends April 27.

Fridays-Sundays, 3:30 p.m. Starts: April 18. Continues through April 27, 2008
