Science on Tap, a Seattle Science Cafe

Is it possible? And we’re talking learning more than how to hit Madonna’s high notes in karaoke, or what’s in that fancy cocktail, or the random bits of useless knowledge acquired and lost at pub trivia nights. Here’s a concept you don’t see everyday: “Science on Tap, a Seattle Science Cafe,” which takes over the basement pub of the charming bookstore Ravenna Third Place once a month. Previous guest topics have included a sci-fi author speaking on modern paranoia, beer brewers on the science of their work, a UW professor on nanotechnology, and even a Microsoft dude on culture- jamming and pirate radio (really?). Tonight’s presenter is Gerard Cangelosi of Seattle Biomedical Research Institute, with “Understanding tuberculosis, XDR-TB [a drug-resistant strain], and Godzilla: A guide for modern city dwellers.” All ages.
