Sandra Bernhard

Who better to get your gay pride going a week early than Sandra Bernhard? The love-her-or-hate-her comedienne’s acclaimed solo show Without You I’m Nothing is 20 years old, and she’s reviving it here for two performances only, with new and revised material alongside her prior songs and monologues. Renting the old movie adaptation on DVD would save you 50 bucks, but don’t make that mistake. Ms. Bernhard is as bracing as ever at age 53. It would take a semi going full speed to stop the woman, and bless her for it. Grammy nominee, Playboy model, soul singer, Broadway star, mother, and suspiciously close friend of Madonna—Bernhard has done it all, and has never been shy to talk about it. It’s incomprehensible that E! or VH1 hasn’t approached her for a reality show. (Kathy Griffin has stolen some of her thunder, and it’s time to get it back.) Bernhard would have Kim Kardashian, Dina Lohan, and Denise Richards for lunch, and still have room for dessert. Her performances are part of the It’s About Life Expo, a traveling marketplace for the LGBT community. (Hey, until she gets that show, a girl’s gotta eat!) If you can get tickets, I recommend the 10 p.m. show—because Bernhard only improves with time. And perhaps she’ll wear the infamous American flag bikini to prove it. Washington State Convention & Trade Center, 800 Convention Pl., 447-5000, www.itsaboutlifexpo.com. $48–$58. 7 and 10 p.m. FRANK PAIVA
