I’ve only caught JFK of Grayskul’s live act twice—once as a soloist at Nectar and most recently with his partner-in-rhyme Onry Ozzborn at Jewel Box Theater—but his volley of facial flicks and ticks are still seared on my retina. Seriously, it burns. Yeah, yeah, he can spit, too; his voice rises from the volcanic ash in lava-bursts that bubble the skin. You’ll need to apply ointment after you leave. Thing is, Luckyiam of Living Legends is no slouch, either, his crew’s hyperbolic tag notwithstanding. But I guess that’s hip-hop for ya. The West Coasters’ new album, The Gathering, hits shelves April 8, cuts of which Luckyiam may drop along with those from his year-old Most Likely to Succeed.
