When conceptualizing my fantasy Seattle-celebrity dinner, two seats at the table are variables, but three people are always invited: sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson (and Nancys husband, Cameron Crowe). 1976s Dreamboat Annie or 1985s self-titled album (Not a new direction, but frankly, a new band, wrote one reviewer)theyre both solid to me. Anns piercing vocals are so uniquely chilling, heaven forbid a producer should try to make her sound like Madonna, as that same reviewer wrote happened in the 80s. This September shes releasing her first solo effort, Hope & Glory, where she most definitely sounds like herself. Itll include renditions of songs like Lucinda Williams Jackson and Neil Youngs War of Man, with guests from Elton John to Rufus Wainwright.
