This three-pronged CD release show features three wildly dissimilar experimental bands: AFCGT, PWRFL Power and Linda and Ron’s Dad. AFCGT, a static-y, cacophanous metal band which lets its heavy riffs speak for themselves (i.e., thar be no singer). PWRFL Power, meanwhile, plays fingerpicked acoustic guitar with quirky lyrics about chucking tomatoes and locking yourself out of your apartment when you’re trying to take a chick home to score. But it’s Linda and Ron’s Dad that are most likely to blow your minds this evening. Their spacey hip hop sounds like what might happen if M83 decided to produce beats, or if N.E.R.D. popped a couple handfuls of valium and then sat down to make a record. Damn. They can serve me up some “mystical raps” anytime.
