C’est une bonne affaire, and no, we’re not talking about an illicit rendezvous (though this Pike Place hideaway would be ideal for one). The phrase is French for “it’s a good deal,” and mon dieu, is it ever: From 5 to 7 p.m. weeknights, everything on the lounge menu is $2.95—from the tarte flambé (warm brie, tomatoes, and herbs on a flaky crust) to moules marinière (a heaping pile of mussels in butter and wine) to croque monsieur (the rich French equivalent of a toasted ham-and-cheese sandwich). As you would expect from Maximilien, it’s all formidable. A French martini (vodka, pineapple, and cranberry juice) or a glass of red or white wine ($4 each) makes a fine accompaniment, and the view from the upstairs lounge—one of the best ferry-watching spots in Seattle—can turn an ordinary evening into one that, in any language, is très magnifique. 81A Pike St., 206-682-7270, www.maximilienrestaurant.com.
