12 Minutes Max

If you’ve ever wondered how to choreograph “the here and the now of life” in Japan (per dancer Yuki Enomoto), or if you’re a UW student curious about what Thomas Heasley and other dancers have been up to at the HUB, check out the latest 12 Minutes Max show. This beloved theater showcase, established in 1978, will feature those and a half-dozen other artists, as curated by John K. Wilson (from Cornish) and Mark Chandler (a 12MM regular). This month’s lineup of new and in-progress work comprises several dance pieces. Harlow, by Whitney Owens, makes reference to platinum-blonde screen siren Jean Harlow, with choreography by Wade Madsen. Liz Erber will dance to the sarod stylings of James Whetzel. (What’s a sarod? You’ll have to go to find out.) And, sadly torn from the headlines, Esra Chelen commemorates the March murder of Italian performance artist Pippa Bacca in Turkey with Stifled. On the Boards, 100 W.
