Throw Me the Statue

Saturday, December 1

Fresh off the road with Sweden’s answer to Jonathan Richman, Jens Lekman, Throw Me the Statue return to their hometown well practiced with their first real tour under their belts. Highlights? While immensely impressed with Jens and his band of (very literally) fair ladies and getting flashed by a local while eating late-night Mexican food in Vancouver, one of the best moments, according to frontman Scott Reitherman, was when the band “gave out a bunch of egg shakers before we played our Robocop-esque track "Yucatan Gold" so people could shake along with us.” Perhaps they’ll re-live it tonight as they celebrate their first EP release on Secretly Canadian, a three song appetizer to the forthcoming re-release of their lo-fi, glitchy pop full-length, Moonbeams. With the Shaky Hands and Charlene (members of Aveo).

Listen to a sample of Throw Me the Statue's "Yucatian Gold."
