Enter Shikari

The most hilarious thing I heard on record over the last year wasn’t Patton Oswalt’s “Werewolves and Lollipops”, nor was it Flight of the Conchords’ The Distant Future or even Demetri Martin’s insightful observations (“Glitter is the herpes of craft supplies”) on These are Jokes. No, the laughter fits were caused by Enter Shikari, apparently some band that has the music press in their native Britain foaming at the mouth. Unfortunately for some of us (me), Enter Shikari aren’t comedians, nor are they trying to be funny; it’s just that their totally absurd sub-categorized hybrid brand of music (synth-screamo, anyone?), lyrical paint-by-thesaurus emotional drivel and non-scary growling, all put together, makes me laugh. So please excuse me, I must get back to the part where they say, “And I’ll plead with a thousand voices. I AM SANE.” Cracks me up every time. With guests.
