Spare The Rod

Some say youth is wasted on the young, but they haven’t been to the Old Redmond Firehouse. The longest-running all-ages venue in the Pacific Northwest, ORF operates four days a week (Wednesday through Saturday), giving kids on the Eastside a place to create, partake, and commiserate. Stop by some afternoon and you’re likely to catch kids skating the outdoor ramp or adorning the walls with their artwork. But you’d better drop by and check out a live music show if you really want to know what this place is all about. Hardcore chicks, their skate rat brothers, and a smattering of peppy power-poppers gather under the tower-topped roof every Friday evening to do what kids do best: rock. 16510 N.E. 79th St., Redmond, 425-556-2370.
