You know you’re probably not on the tenure track for a life of crime when cops start referring to you as the “Bad Luck Bandit.” That’s the unfortunate nickname given to a 47-year-old Tacoma man after he ran out of gas only 50 feet from the scene of his last caper. The Bandit was arrested in Wenatchee after the owner of a Native American collectibles shop noticed him sneaking off with some loot. When cops arrived they found their man fleeing on foot. A considerably less-speedy getaway than the one he’d initially planned after his ride ran out of gas and stalled a short chip shot away from the store. In his possession cops found several necklaces and a beaded ceremonial garment worth over $10,000. Police haven’t yet released the Bandit’s actual name. Possibly because they want to inflict the maximum amount of embarrassment allowed by law. He’s now charged with first-degree theft. And fitting with his current streak of ill-fortune, he doesn’t seem to have the cash to post bond.
