Yes, our local government agencies and their ill-equipped contractors (you can pick up my trash anytime now, fuckers!) have failed us miserably in the worst snowstorm Western Washington has seen in quite some time. But you know who hasn’t, because they never do? Pizza delivery drivers and cabbies, that’s who. We take these folks for granted when it’s above freezing, which in most years, is every day. But when a tired Eastern European immigrant showed up at my door at 9:30 on Thursday night with a piping hot pie from Olympia on Delridge, I wanted to lick the frost off his wet face. Cabbies and slice slingers, take it from me: You’ve never been more loved as you are now.
