Would you throw a smoke bomb through this man’s window? Someone did. He’s John Hathaway, rascally publisher of The New Takhoman, a website devoted to Tacoma politics and civic disputes. He regularly takes swipes at Tacoma’s city leaders, often in cartoon form, but has never seemed dangerous enough to provoke an attack. Hathaway’s website is so far silent about the window-breaking smoke-filled sortie, but the News Tribune reports that someone arrived in the dark, armed with both a rock and bomb, at his Tacoma home this week: “The window of Hathaway’s home was broken, and a common smoke bomb thrown in at about midnight Monday, said police spokesman Mark Fulghum. No motive or suspects have been determined.”
