Word on the street is that Obama-Bayh bumper stickers are being manufactured, which could only mean one thing. So, okay, I’m not a big Bayh fan — is anyone? — but let’s remember: People don’t vote for Vice Presidents, they vote for Presidents. About the only time a Veep candidate really matters is if he or she can deliver a key swing state in a tight contest (or, conversely, if he’s a dundering idiot, ala Dan Quayle). Senator Bayh, a onetime Hillary Clinton supporter, might be able to deliver Indiana to the D’s, and, boring as he may be, is unlikely to step on his dick on the trail. With a candidate as charismatic as Obama, that might be all the ticket needs.
