What the results showed last night (in addition to Mr. Seely’s spot-on observations below), is that the country– after seven long years of Dubya– is crying out not just for change but for charisma and a penchant for public speaking. Both Obama and Huckabee have those in spades. Clinton, while she’s softened her wooden approach, just doesn’t have the stuff to conjure gooseflesh. The best she could muster post-results last night was something along the lines of “I?ve done this work for 35 years” and “I’m as ready as I can be.” True, yes. But not exactly inspiring stuff– and further evidence of a growing chink in the armor of the machine.
