Updated with comments from the Pierce County Sherrif’s Office.Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies are still searching for three or four suspects after they recovered more than 50 shell casings at the site of an attempted robbery turned shootout that left one person dead and two others injured, KOMO reports. The war-like shootout took place last night in the small community of Lakebay, just across the sound from Tacoma around 8:15 p.m.According to KOMO:The gunfire erupted Thursday night when a group of six or seven people attempted a home-invasion robbery at the house, in the 19100 block of Second Street, where substantial quantities of marijuana were grown and drugs were sold.Pierce County Sheriff spokesperson Ed Troyer says three people are currently in custody, two who were inside the house and a third who was the getaway driver for the would-be robbers. The homeowner and a suspect were hospitalized with injuries. The person who died–who is still unnamed–was one of the burglars, according to Troyer. The Sheriff’s office is still looking for three or four people to question who may be armed. And given the large number of bullets found at the scene, possibly injured, Troyer says, though none have shown up at area hospitals. “Whether they’re doing home remedies, we don’t know.”
