UPDATE: The Seattle Times confirms the victim in the shooting died at the hospital.A puddle of blood on the northeast corner of Pike Street and 2nd Avenue was all that was left after an apparent victim of an attempted homicide was rushed to a hospital Tuesday afternoon. Police say that the man was shot in head and that they have arrested the suspected shooter at a nearby restaurant. Dozens of police officers cordoned off 2nd Avenue between Pike and Pine Streets while crowds of onlookers gathered to see what had happened.The victim was taken by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his head. His condition is unknown at this timeWitnesses, including Seattle residents Paul Hamilton and his wife Tia, recounted catching a glimpse of a man walk up and shoot the victim “execution style” shortly before 5pm on their way to eat dinner at Mom’s Teriyaki on 3rd Avenue. After that, they saw the apparent shooter, a man who looked to be in his 30s and who Hamilton says “looked Somalian,” run northwest up 2nd, then west on Pine Street.”It was like something out of the movies,” he told the Daily Weekly on the street, under a light drizzle. “I just saw heard the shot, then I saw a guy just drop to the ground and start convulsing. There was blood shooting out like a faucet.”KOMO News reports that the man ran into the Zaina gyro shop on First and Pine where he was eventually arrested in the bathroom.Later, a young looking man of about 30, in a brown coat could be seen being lead in handcuffs into a waiting police cruiser.We will update this story with more info as needed.
