Today in New York, they’re waving the start flag for something called the Film Racing Tour, now in its third year. The cross-country event will visit 20 cities, including Seattle on April 24-25 (details). In each city, aspiring directors essentially compete in one of those 24-hour film contests (something like the Fly Film program at SIFF). Filmmakers pay a $95 fee when registering online, where some of last year’s results are available for streaming. If they’re lucky, perhaps a Hollywood agent will notice one of this year’s efforts on the same Web site. But for Seattle friends and family, there will be an April 30 screening of the resulting local shorts at the Harvard Exit.
