Tim Mensing is just the messenger, please put away the knivesIf Governor Gregoire’s ongoing game of chicken with the state legislature has taught us nothing else it’s that the effects of the budget crisis are terrible and far reaching. Just ask UW student association president Tim Mensing, who this week had the unenviable task of asking his fellow students to help choose via online survey the “least bad options” in addressing the legislature’s expected 13 percent cut in higher education funding.According to the email, next year’s financial aid budget will be halved. The survey asks students how the administration can soften the impact of that and the rest of the fallout due to result from the 26 percent cut in state aid to the school. It’s kind of like asking a death row inmate to choose the method of their execution: whatever they decide–be it hanging, firing squad or death by Mongolian tickle ninjas–the outcome is still going to suck. h/t Sunbreak
