Thus far, Ken Griffey Jr. hasn’t performed as poorly as hated ex-Mariner Richie Sexson. Actually, he’s performed worse, writes Todd Dybas over at the Sports NW blog. So why aren’t fans calling out the aging Kid for his ineptitude? Simple: (a) everyone realizes his signing was largely a p.r. ploy, (b) the M’s are winning, against all odds, and (c) he’s cemented his status as a Mariner legend, whereas Sexson was a famous flame-out. Either way, Norm’s should do what it did with Sexson and start pricing beer in accordance with Griffey’s current batting average. That way, if Fremont fans eventually get mad at Junior, at least they’ll be happy when they drink.
