There’s nothing funny about a man in his 60s getting beat up. This picture, however …To be clear, seeing your favorite bar employee safely home after her shift is a classic “good guy” move. Granted, not everyone who does will behave gracefully after arriving at said employee’s doorstep. Still, the act itself is a chivalrous one. Points get reduced, however, if during the process you assault a sexagenarian. Early Sunday morning, two men got into a verbal altercation while drinking in an Eastlake bar. The 36-year-old suspect was attempting to make good on his promise to walk one of the bar’s female employees home. The 63-year-old victim apparently took issue with that and followed the two of them as they exited the bar. The younger patron took his belt and began swinging it around his head as the victim neared. Then he hit him. Twice. He followed that up by kicking the older man in the head before being pulled away. The older man was later treated by medics at the scene before being transported to Harborview for evaluation. His assailant has been arrested and booked into King County jail, and will most likely be charged with assault. He has, however, already been tried and convicted of breaching the clause in international guy law that prohibits beating up someone nearing retirement age.
