The New York Times reports here that professional slimer-for-hire Floyd Brown is ready to dig for dirt–or just invent some–on the Democratic presidential nominee. Apparently McCain isn’t yet throwing any money his way, so it’s unclear if he can repeat the success of his notorious Willie Horton ad back in ’88. (Yes, Brown was one of the Lee Atwater bunch.)Why go after Obama, and why from Washington State? The Times story places Brown in University Place, south of Tacoma. Both David Postman at the SeaTimes and the TNT reported last fall that the Olympia native was back in the Northwest to work his political, ahem, craft. So a new Swift Boat campaign might launch right here on Puget Sound, however unlikely that seems here in a solid-blue Obama state.
