The crater that cost Bohlig his life.52-year-old Joseph Bohlig was no amateur. The Kelso climber had scaled Mount Saint Helens many times prior to Monday, when he tumbled 1,500 feet to his death.Bohlig and a friend had just reached the south end of the volcano’s rim when they stopped for a picture. He took off his jacket and cap, strode five feet away from the edge and posed, only to fall when the ice he was standing on gave way.A helicopter rescue team located Bohlig on a 70-degree slope yesterday but high winds and snow kept them from reaching him. His body was recovered this afternoon.
