Thank you TSA for letting little Janie bring her toy boat on the plane.Does anything that the TSA does make any sense to you? .Now, out of the blue, America’s Friskers have decided it’s OK to plop a pocket knife into your carry-on, but you still can’t bring along a small container of shampoo that’s more than 3.4 ounces.Suddenly, toy boats are also on the welcome aboard list. (We thought they always were.) Weirder still, is the agency’s announcement that you are now permitted to bring sporting equipment onto your flight. Think about that for a minute….Baseball bats, hockey sticks, golf clubs. Not a problem, sir. Bring it on, but do be careful. No whacking the flight attendant if she’s not quick with your drink order.”This decision aligns TSA with International Civil Aviation Organization standards and our European counterparts,” the TSA said in a statement.Needless to say, none of this is going down well with flight attendants. The Flight Attendants Union Coalition, representing nearly 90,000 Flight Attendants, called the decision “poor and shortsighted” and demanded that TSA change its mind.”As the last line of defense in the cabin and key aviation partners, we believe that these proposed changes will further endanger the lives of all Flight Attendants and the passengers we work so hard to keep safe and secure,” they say. A local flight attendant for Alaska Airlines, who didn’t want me to use her name, told MyNorthwest.com, “I have a slight feeling of fear every time I step on a plane. This doesn’t help. It’s a bad idea. It’s time to find a new job.”
