Soon-to-be-former County Executive Ron Sims is holding a press conference in a couple hours to announce something about development and climate change. (See, they can go together.) Joining him is current County Council Chair Dow Constantine, whose response to the question: “Are you running for executive?” last week was: “My job as King County Council Chair right now is to ensure that we have a fair, open and extremely effective appointment process.” So, um, yes. The next question then: is this press conference a sign Sims might be willing to rethink his admonition against appointing a replacement who plans to seek election in November if said appointee is someone other than Larry Phillips?
