Seattle’s feel good story of the week has experienced a melt-down today.

MyNorthwest.com is reporting that almost all of the guns collected at Seattle’s buyback program have been destroyed. That’s a kink in Mayor Mike McGinn’s plan to turn those guns in to plaques displaying anti-gun messages penned by K-12 elementary students.

A spokesman told MyNorthwest that McGinn learned shortly before a press conference announcing the plan that the guns had been destroyed. However, he insisted that with more buyback programs in the works, the program is still legit and nothing misleading was said.
