Seattle Schools Superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson is due to announce her five-year strategic plan next month. The non-profit Alliance for Education has sent out an invitation to a May 14th breakfast in which the new supe will “update the community on her strategic vision.” Around the same time, Goodloe-Johnson will be holding media roundtables to talk about her plan, according to schools spokesperson David Tucker. For an in-your-face change agent, Goodloe Johnson has been relatively quiet in the past few months. So it will be interesting to see whether she plans any big shake-ups. Given her belief that all students should take at least one Advanced Placement course, it wouldn’t be surprising if that’s part of her plan. Curious, also, whether she’ll hint at “reconstituting” underperforming schools, as she has talked about doing in the context of her South End Education Initiative.
