Seattle Public Theatre presents: SlowgirlMarch 26 – April 12Greenlake BathhouseReceiving its Pacific Northwest premiere at Seattle Public Theater, Greg Pierce’s play Slowgirl has been called “engrossing and thought-provoking…exploring questions of character and fate and the power of family to both wound and heal” (LA Times). Slowgirl opens on Friday, March 27 and runs through Sunday, April 12.Slowgirl is chock full of humor, but it packs a powerful emotional punch. As the play begins, the grave consequences of a late-night party prank have teenage Becky landing in the jungles of Costa Rica to visit her reclusive uncle Sterling. Their unexpected relationship bristles with humor and tension, and revelations emerge from a labyrinth of shared truths and doubts. Ultimately, Slowgirl asks questions we all face: Where do we go when we’ve made a mistake? What is the risk of telling the truth? How do we return to a life we’ve left?Slowgirl features Kevin McKeon (Superior Donuts, Humble Boy at SPT) and Hannah Mootz (Bo-nita at Seattle Rep). It is directed by Kelly Kitchens, SPT’s Associate Artistic Director and winner of the 2014 Gregory award for Outstanding Director.
