Scene of the crime at International Blvd. and S. 116thA 19-year-old woman died last night from a “blast of gunfire” that exploded through the passenger window as she and a male companion were driving down International Boulevard in a white Cadillac Escalade. Police found her in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the head when they pulled the driver over on northbound I-5 at Dearborn Street at around 9 p.m. It is unclear why he was pulled over, though it appears he was speeding at the time, perhaps frantic to find the nearest hospital. “We found her in the car bleeding,” Tukwila police spokesman Mike Murphy told Seattle Weekly this morning. “It was a blast of gunfire into the window. We’re not sure if he wasn’t the target. We have no motive for the shooting at this point.Police determined that the shooting had taken place earlier in the vicinity of International Boulevard and South 116th Street. That’s where bullet casings were found. The woman was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where she died.Police, reports KOMO News, have no reason to believe that a fight between drivers or road rage might have triggered the deadly incident. The driver of the Escalade was not injured. There is no description of the shooter.Tukwila police, meanwhile , are now investigating, too, what befell a 31-year-old Tukwila man who was found dead “under suspicious circumstances” in his own backyard last night — “just steps from his house,” said Murphy.”We don’t know what to make of this one, whether it was foul play or an assault, or what. We’re waiting for the autopsy….It’s pretty strange when a 31-year-old just dies.”The man was found in the backyard at abut 8:30 p.m. in the 11600 block of 44th Ave. South.
