Rose Johnson first came under police scrutiny two years ago, when a young boy staying at her home in Kent told police that the 54-year-old grandmother had physically and sexually abused him. No charges were ever filed. But as the P-I reports, investigators took a closer look at his claims after another child leveled similar accusations against Johnson.The girl who came forward recently told police that Johnson had forced her to have sex with other kids, starting from when she was only 5 years old. According to court documents, Johnson would sometimes pay the children to perform the sex acts. Sometimes she’d make them do it as a form of punishment, sometimes as a way to earn some money. Either way, the kids report that they complied out of fear. Johnson’s alleged retribution ranged from the mundane to the medieval. If they didn’t do what she told them to do, the kids said, Johnson would either whup them or, worse, force them to eat and drink their own shit and piss.As reported in the P-I, Johnson bounced around from Auburn to Kent to Federal Way during the time period — 2001 to 2006 — when most of the abuse is alleged to have happened. Because of the statute of limitations on assault, Johnson will probably never face charges for the bulk of what she’s accused of.Instead, prosecutors have charged Johnson with three counts of first-degree child molestation. She should be arraigned tomorrow.
