Riders arriving for the ferry this evening were greeted by a half-dozen

Riders arriving for the ferry this evening were greeted by a half-dozen people handing out literature titled “Ferry Tales: An In-Depth Investigation,” asking questions like, Did you know …– The last time WSF asked for a bid to build a new boat, they were completely clueless — 40 percent off the mark clueless — as to what it would actually cost to build the thing?– WSF and the legislature have ignored last year’s performance audit recommendations from Brian Sonntag’s office that identified over $100 million in cost savings …Pretty interesting stuff that those of us who are “ferry dependent” have lived through over the last couple years. The “investigation” is sponsored by the Evergreen Freedom Foundation. Many of the items on the sheet — which I’ll get to more tomorrow — including the state’s sale of passenger-only ferries and the issue of building ships out of state are more of a reflection of legislation than WSF policy. But, just glancing at the investigation it appears while the ferry system is the target of its criticism, they’re casting a wider net than WSF management. Interesting stuff. More to come.
