Reported rumors of coal in Norm Dicks’ stocking have proven premature. There was always something weird about Norm Dicks being investigated by two different Congressional ethics groups. As Mark Fefer put it back on October 30th when the case was first made public, “When they outlaw handing out no-bid contracts to campaign contributors, only outlaws will get re-elected to Congress.”Dicks may be our local leader in “pork procurement.” But that’s mainly due to his membership in the “favor factory” known as the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. Fortunately, sanity appears to have won the day. George Behan, Dicks’ chief of staff, says that the case has been dismissed. Merry Christmas, Congressman!
