Two months after Sports Illustrated highlighted it as a mesh-short paradise — Seattle produces more NBA players per capita than any major American city — Jet City is getting even more recognition thanks to the NBA’s post-season awards.Houston’s Aaron Brooks (Franklin ’03) took home Most Improved honors, Atlanta’s Jamal Crawford (Rainier Beach ’98) won Sixth Man of the Year (beating out Dallas’s Jason Terry, another Franklin graduate) and, if you want to stretch the definition of Seattle hoops just a smidge, Oklahoma City’s Scott Brooks was also awarded Coach of the Year.That Brandon Roy (Garfield ’02) is doing his best Willis Reed impression in Portland’s bid for a first-round upset is just one more reason for the 206 to be proud of its hoops legacy. Aside from the fact that, nearly 36 months on, the grand experiment has no end in sight.*And no, I’m not counting the Storm.
