Part of the deal when you hail a cab is that your ride home is not supposed to end in rape. Somali-born cabbie Mahamud Jamaala Husseno, 53, of Kent, allegedly didn’t receive that memo.According to Thurston County cops, Husseno picked up a 33-year-old woman outside the Jazzbones nightclub in Tacoma early on Saturday morning. The woman told police that she and the driver settled on a $20 fare, but that things started to go wrong when he got lost on the way to her house. It took over an hour to get her home, she said in her police statement, and once there he demanded $180. All she had on her, she said, was $47, which she gave to the driver before getting out of the cab. She says that he then grabbed her, pulled her back into the cab, pulled down her pants, and raped her. The alleged victim’s friend called police, who, using security-camera footage from the nightclub, determined that Husseno was the alleged attacker. He was arrested and is due in court today to be arraigned. Husseno works (or, more probably, worked) for Tacoma-based USA Cab. On its website, the company asks, “Why Choose USA CAB?” Among the listed reasons: ” Experienced Drivers.”

Curious what the company had to say about Husseno, we put in a call. Both its listed numbers are disconnected.Follow The Daily Weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
