One of the offending signs.City law doesn’t allow campaign signs on public property, so when one vigilant Seattleite saw one for Joe Mallahan on a median, he e-mailed a complaint to the city Department of Transportation. Mallahan spokesperson Charla Neuman says they didn’t know the signs had been placed in the medians. “We think it’s volunteers being relatively new to the campaign and not knowing the rules,” she says.Neuman adds that the campaign has since forwarded the rules [pdf] to all volunteers so they know where signs are verboten.
