On what could have been its very last Saturday print edition, Seattle’s oldest daily ran an eloquent profile of a long-tenured CYO basketball coach who’s known around his neighborhood as “the Mayor of Wedgwood.” This person also happens to be my father, and I can say with absolute certainty that had the same piece run online-only, it wouldn’t have had the same impact on him or his parents, who straddle 90 age-wise and don’t have a computer at home. Granted, they’re in the minority nowadays, but it’s a significant minority who will be sad to see the print P-I go bye-bye.
