On the afternoon of May 22, Gabriel Wilson watched his son Adrian

On the afternoon of May 22, Gabriel Wilson watched his son Adrian die in front of his eyes. And as his body fell to the ground and his alleged killer fled, Wilson picked up the gun that was dropped and ran to where he mistakenly thought the murderer and his gang-banger friends were living. Then he emptied the clip into the building–somehow missing the mother and child who lived inside. All this played into a judge’s decision on whether Wilson would be briefly let out of jail to attend his son’s funeral. That decision: No.Multiple reports tell of the hearing yesterday getting heated when the judge announced Wilson would not be allowed to leave jail–even under police escort–for the few hours required to attend the funeral, but instead would remain in jail on $750,000 bail.Family members apparently started screaming at the judge to “Let him come see his son for the very last time!”We reported on the original shooting last week after the alleged killer, 16-year-old Crip member James A. Mills, was found dressed like a woman at his mom’s house. Some early reports had listed Wilson as a member of the Nortenos just like his son, though KING-5, KOMO, and the Seattle Times are no longer naming him as such.Wilson does have a previous felony drug conviction, which is why his charges include illegal possession of a weapon (for the few minutes that he had a gun and shot it blindly into the apartment complex) along with assault. At any rate, he’ll have to hear about his son being buried from a second-hand source.Follow The Daily Weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
