News Clips— Seattle Weekly turns 25

THIS WEEK MARKS the 25th birthday of Seattle Weekly. Of course, you may want to celebrate this milestone privately with family and friends, according to your own customs. But we at the paper also have some big plans for marking the anniversary. We’ve got a big party planned for next month that will coincide with the launch of our newly redesigned paper. (Smart, funny, and, soon, even better-looking!) And we have a special anniversary issue in the works that will look back at some of the greatest hits (and misses) of the Weekly, and the city, over the last 25 years. It’ll be a keepsake edition (but still free!).

To that end, we’d like to enlist your suggestions. At a time when Seattle seems to be going from darling to dog in the eyes of the national media, we’ll be looking at reasons to still feel swell about this place. Sure, Boeing’s leaving, dot-coms are dying, the Viaduct is crumbling, and Mark Sidran is running for mayor, but we know there are some good things about Seattle . . . aren’t there?

Send us your suggestions in three categories: 1) Best additions to Seattle over the last 25 years; 2) Most encouraging things today about Seattle; and 3) Seattleites who will make a difference in the next 25 years. E-mail your nominations to info@seattleweekly.com, or send them to us at 1008 Western Avenue, Ste 300, Seattle, WA 98104. We’ll draw the names of a few lucky participants and award each of them a dinner for two at a top Seattle restaurant!
