Meaty and Beefy-less in Seattle.Pro skateboarder and MTV reality-show favorite Rob Dyrdek is in town for this weekend’s Street League DC Pro Tour at KeyArena–which brings some of the hottest names in skateboarding, such as Ryan Sheckler, Paul Rodriguez, Brandon Biebel, and David Gonzalez. This is big news for Seattle, a city where skateboarders have long fought for space to skate.Good news for those Seattle skateboarders: Dyrdek is helping fund a “Safe Spot Skate Spot” in West Seattle’s Roxhill Park.This morning Dyrdek and Mayor McGinn announced that the Dyrdek Foundation will partner with Seattle Parks and Recreation to develop the Roxhill Park skate park. It will be Dyrdek’s eighth “Safe Spot Skate Spot” and a leap forward for the city’s 20-year skate-park plan.Dyrdek said this morning that he thought his long-term plans for skate parks was genius until he ran across Seattle’s. “Mayor McGinn and the City of Seattle have set the bar nationally by adopting a 20-year plan to build 25 skate parks for the thousands of street skateboarders in Seattle.”Dyrdek will throw out the opening pitch at tomorrow night’s Mariners game before heading back to KeyArena to practice for the weekend’s Street League skateboarding competition.PS – Moms get in FREE to Sunday’s Street League competition finals.Mayor McGinn demonstrates the proper way to throw out a first pitch.Follow The Daily Weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
